The Canadian Hurricane Centre (CMC) issued a Tropical Cyclone Information Statement Monday afternoon, saying Lee
has the potential to cause significant weather impacts in Atlantic Canada over the weekend.
Lee was downgraded to a category 3 hurricane on Monday afternoon but is expected to fluctuate over the next couple of days.
On Friday, the storm peaked at Category 5 but weakened to a Category 2 storm over the weekend. Lee strengthened over open waters north-eastern of the Caribbean on Sunday night.
Bob Robichaud said,
What we’re pretty confident right now is that we will see some waves probably move out ahead of the storm and reach the Atlantic Coast of Nova Scotia – it will probably be late this week. But it’s still kind of early to start pinning down things like rainfall amounts and wind, We could be looking at a Category 1 storm as it approaches, or we might be looking at a strong tropical storm.
