Canva Went Global, Acquiring Other Organizations; Compromising Culture

From kids to professionals all over the world use the easiest and most convenient design platform Canva. The famous app Canva has truthfully gone global since its commencement 10 years ago.

The headquarters is located in Sydney. Canva has a strength of over 3,500 employees and does operations in eight countries.

Jennie Rogerson is the global head of Canva. She is trying to expand by acquiring other organizations. That will make the Canvas workforce a patchwork of backgrounds, cultures, and experiences.

Culture is the core of acquisition strategy because finding the correct products or services to add is usually the fundamental reason for an acquisition. But it is also critical, to the values of people and companies.

Jennie Rogerson said,

It’s important that the product or service you acquire is exactly what you’re looking to add to your wheelhouse. But it is equally important that the team you bring on board are spectacularly values-aligned. It makes the runway so much clearer.

She pointed out the London-based data-visualization platform Flourish, one of the recent acquisitions. It had interest over other companies but was rejected due to the companies’ culture not being coordinated.
